Aswan

Aswan moves at a different pace to the rest of Egypt. The Nile is wider and calmer here, framed by granite boulders and palm-covered islands, and the Nubian villages along the riverbanks give the city a distinct culture and colour palette all its own.

It's a natural place to slow down — a felucca sail at golden hour, a boat out to Philae Temple, and riverside stays chosen as much for their views as their comfort.
